The Sports & Recreation Division of Tamworth Regional Council, deliver diverse facilities and activity opportunities that broaden community involvement in sport & recreation participation. The Northern Inland Centre of Sporting Excellence (NICSE) encompasses specialised sport and recreational facilities for community groups, sporting clubs, schools, organisations, businesses and the general public in one location. NICSE has the capacity to host and secure national, state and local sporting competitions and boost sport tourism, investment and liveability in the region; as well as enhancing opportunities for additional competitions, events, training and talent development.  Working with our Sports & Recreation team, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation through the provision and facilitation of recreational activities for the community.

You will be responsible for developing & implementing recreational programs, with a focus on increasing physical activity and encouraging healthy lifestyles for community. Ideally, you will have a background in planning & delivering structured physical activity programs & training sessions, and possess a ‘can do’ attitude.  You will be involved in day to day operations at NICSE and assist the team with sport court configuration set up and pack away. Other key duties will include:

  • Facilitating group bookings such as schools, training sessions, school holiday and birthday party activities
  • Work and collaborate with local organisations to deliver programs that meet community needs
  • Identify and support community-led sport & active recreation initiatives and programs
  • Respond to customer enquiries and seek feedback about experiences and services
  • Assist with the development of business initiatives across the Sports & Recreation division

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Certificate III in Sport and Recreation or equivalent relevant experience
  • A current drivers licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • The ability to identify and respond to community / stakeholder needs & expectations
  • Strong organisational & communication skills

This position has been classified as a Grade 10 with a salary range of $1,140 to $1,234 plus superannuation based on a 38 hour week. Hours shall be on the basis of a 38 hour week arranged as 152 hours within a four week roster.
