The Junior Environmental Health Officer works closely with experienced team members and learns to inspect food premises hair and beauty salons, tattoo premises and public pools, to ensure compliance with Food Act and Public Health Act requirements.  They also educate the community on environmental, food and public health matters, investigate reports of pollution incidents and provide advice and conditions for development applications on environmental matters.

These positions are predominantly field based where you will be out in the community conducting inspections and investigations, with follow up to be completed as required. 

Key activities of this role include:

  • Support Environmental Health Officers by applying environmental, food and public health legislation to activities carried out in the Central Coast Community in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures;
  • Assist in the delivery of the Food and Public Health Inspection program in accordance with the relevant legislation and Council’s policy and procedures;
  • Provide technical advice to Council, business and the general public on matters of environmental, food and\or public health activities and prepare field notes, inspection reports and other correspondence as required.

About You:

  • You are studying Environmental Health, Food Science or Environmental Science (or have recently graduated) and want to jump start your career;
  • You have strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and the drive to provide exceptional customer service;

This role provides a salary range of between $65.2k to $78.2k per annum + superannuation.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
