Snowy Monaro Regional Council is looking to appoint a Development Support Engineer to support the delivery of effective and efficient development assessments, inspections, enquiries, documentation and record keeping services.

This position is offered in a permanent full-time capacity, based on 35 hours per week, located in Jindabyne. This position would be suited to a qualified engineer with hands-on experience (ideally in subdivision plans including road, stormwater and water and sewerage infrastructure).

Key Responsibilities:

The Development Support Engineer will report into the Coordinator Development. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide the engineering component for assessment and recommendations in relation to Development, Construction Certificate for engineering works, Subdivision Certificate, Subdivision Works Certificate and Section 138 Applications
  • Process Construction Certificate for engineering works, Subdivision Works Certificate, Subdivision Certificate and Section 138 Applications in accordance with Council procedures
  • Inspect subdivision works and civil engineering works relating to development and issue compliance certificates for completion/non-conformance of works
  • Promote appropriate solutions to problems and conflicts generated by Development, Construction Certificate, Subdivision Works Certificate, Subdivision Certificate and Section 138 Applications
  • Liaise, negotiate, provide advice to/with developers, consultants, Council staff, customers, elected representatives on issues relating to Development, Construction Certificate, Subdivision Works Certificate, Subdivision Certificate and Section 138 Applications

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree qualification or above, in Civil Engineering with demonstrated contemporary experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in the assessment of engineering and subdivision plans including road, stormwater and water and sewerage infrastructure
  • Eligibility for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes that contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals
