The Heavy Plant Operator will work efficiently and effectively as part of Councils Operations & Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating Council plant including hired plant.

This position is being offered in a Full Time 38 hours per week capacity, located in Cooma. This would be an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate who is hard working and looking for the perfect work life balance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Operate assigned plant (including Backhoe, Excavator and Grader), float plant between work sites and carry out labouring duties in the maintenance and construction of Council’s transport infrastructure in accordance with Council standards, schedule of work and environmental management plans
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks and servicing of the plant to ensure a high level of operational standard is attained
  • Ensure the safety of staff and public through the appropriate use of safety equipment and clothing in accordance with relevant safety standards and Council procedures.
  • Traffic Control at Work sites as directed
  • Follow written and oral instructions

Key Requirements:

  • Unrestricted (HC) Heavy Combination Drivers Licence
  • Traffic Control tickets
  • Ability to manually lift in accordance with WHS guidelines
  • Ability to operate plant in a safe, competent and efficient manner
