Bring your creative flair and passion for design to contribute to the delivery of Council's key design projects!

A Civil and Structural Designer prepares detailed 2D and 3D engineering designs. As a Civil and Structural Design Trainee, you will see your designs progress from drawings to the built environment. You will work with our Design team to assist with the delivery of engineering design projects including bridge designs, roads, footpaths, ocean pools, retaining walls and traffic facilities.

You will learn design skills across a wide variety of infrastructure projects and by the end of this traineeship will be competent in the use of AutoCAD and have experience in other design software such as 12d.

This is a 30-month traineeship undertaking a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Design. Alongside your studies, you will gain valuable work experience across a range of different teams and receive ongoing support and guidance to jump start a rewarding role in Local Government. 

We are looking for someone who…

  • Is eligible to enrol in 2022 into the Certificate IV in Civil Construction Design
  • Has a genuine interest in design and engineering
  • Has strong problem solving and mathematical ability
  • Is motivated and keen to learn
  • Will seek and accept constructive advice from mentors and more experienced colleagues
  • Communicates well and is a team player
  • Is reliable and self-motivated to take responsibility for their own development, learning and work tasks
  • Has an understanding of Work Health and Safety principles
  • Has a current P1 drivers licence or higher
